Casa del Agua Picual is a medium-fruity extra virgin olive oil with a harmonious character. On the nose, green and ripe nuances combine to create a balanced profile reminiscent of tomato, red fruits, and balsamic herbs. On the palate, it displays an almost sweet initial note, followed by a distinctive bitterness and a pronounced peppery finish.Origin & Processing
The olives for this single-varietal oil come from Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén), located at the foot of the Sierra Morena mountains, approximately 400 meters above sea level. The harvest of the medium-ripe olives took place in November 2024 and was carried out semi-manually: vibrating machines detach the olives from the trees, which are then gathered by hand and quickly transported to the Oro Bailén mill. Because of the November harvest, this oil cannot be classified as either an early or late harvest – rather, it falls into a mid-range category, offering well-balanced aromas. An early harvest would mean – depending on the year – "early October," and a late harvest "after the New Year."background
Casa del Agua Picual is a typical oil from the heart of Andalusia: stable, robust, yet approachable. Harvesting the olives at mid-ripeness yields an olive oil that maintains a balance between green and ripe, red vegetal and red fruit notes. The oil content of these olives is higher than that of unripe olives, making it possible to produce a high-quality, affordable oil with a protected designation of origin.Food pairing
This olive oil is particularly suitable for everyday use – especially for sautéing and braising. It's also great for deep-frying. It pairs well with tomato dishes. With its balanced flavor, it's a versatile oil for Mediterranean cuisine. For more refined flavors, however, we recommend the single-varietal premium oils from Oro Bailén.Note from the Master of Olive Oil
“Casa del Agua Picual is undoubtedly not a premium oil like Oro Bailén Picual. But it doesn't claim to be. Rather, it's a very good, honest, and fully traceable oil with a typical Andalusian character. It's exactly the way people in Andalusia like it. For everyday use in the pan, it's the ideal olive oil in our kitchens. And for those who also enjoy it with salads, pasta, fish, and vegetables, Casa del Agua Picual is a truly affordable all-rounder.” – Silvan Brun, Master of Olive OilImport, warehousing & quality assurance
To ensure the enjoyment doesn't end with the product description, this oil was imported into Switzerland under temperature-controlled conditions (between 6 and 18 °C, depending on the truck). The oil is also stored at a constant ambient temperature of 15–18 °C, protected from light. This temperature-controlled logistics preserves the chemical, physiological, and sensory quality of the olive oil to the best of our ability. In the olive oil business—especially in the premium segment—such meticulous care is essential, yet evoo.expert is one of the very few retailers who consistently maintain an unbroken cold chain. You can smell and taste the difference.
