Casas de Hualdo Arbequina is a medium-fruity premium extra virgin olive oil of surprising elegance. On the nose, notes of tomato leaf, freshly cut grass, and a hint of apple and banana unfold. These aromas are confirmed on the palate and blend with a truly subtle bitterness and a delicate peppery note.Origin & Processing
The Arbequina olive is the quintessential Catalan variety, now prized in many growing regions – even outside Spain – for its suitability for super-intensive cultivation. Arbequina olive oil is used in many international blends because it is often mild and delicate, appealing especially to consumers who dislike bitter and pungent olive oils. At Casas de Hualdo, Arbequina olives grow on diverse soils and at varying planting distances, which lends the final oil its beautiful complexity. The olives for this premium extra virgin olive oil are harvested early at Hualdo and cold-extracted within a maximum of six hours in the estate's state-of-the-art mill.background
Since the 1990s, Casas de Hualdo has exclusively harvested its own top-quality olives for its single-varietal olive oils. The Casas de Hualdo estate is a prime example of how a truly premium Arbequina oil can smell and taste when fertile soil meets intelligent people with their hearts in the right place. Fresh and complex.Food pairing
Ideal for the classic breakfast tostada. It pairs wonderfully with salads, seafood, poultry, and oily fish. It harmonizes with all kinds of vegetables and is especially delicious on pumpkin. On cheese boards, it balances the intensity of blue cheese and enhances the flavor of fresh, soft cheeses. It refines tomatoes in all preparations, from gazpacho to classic tomato salad to salmorejo. Surprisingly good in desserts and baked goods, too. Simply substitute 82 grams of olive oil and 16 grams of water for 100 grams of butter in your recipe.Note from the Master of Olive Oil
“Casas de Hualdo Arbequina is an olive oil that accompanies you year after year and yet never gets boring: It is delicate and smooth, and therefore combines well with a wide variety of dishes. And of course, it is also an oil that I can use as a base for numerous recipes – whether for baking, sauces, or frying. I therefore gladly recommend it as an entry-level oil for beginners and as an everyday oil for connoisseurs.” – Silvan Brun, Master of Olive OilImport, warehousing & quality assurance
To ensure the enjoyment doesn't end with the product description, this oil was imported into Switzerland under temperature-controlled conditions (between 6 and 18 °C, depending on the truck). The oil is also stored at a constant ambient temperature of 15–18 °C, protected from light. This temperature-controlled logistics preserves the chemical, physiological, and sensory quality of the olive oil to the best of our ability. In the olive oil business—especially in the premium segment—such meticulous care is essential, yet evoo.expert is one of the very few retailers who consistently maintain an unbroken cold chain. You can smell and taste the difference.
