La Magnanerie Cosmos Organic - 2025 - 500 ml

Best Before Date: 10/31/2027 | Lot: A6

Sensors

La Magnanerie Cosmos Bio is an intensely fruity extra virgin olive oil made from the rare Leccio del Corno variety, native to Tuscany. On the nose, it displays a clear, vegetal aroma with notes of freshly cut grass, green almond, kiwi, and hints of banana and fresh avocado flesh. On the palate, Cosmos is dense, precise, and powerful. The intense green fruitiness is accompanied by a pronounced bitterness and a present, clean peppery note – typical of a phenol-rich, top-quality oil. Despite its intensity, the oil remains balanced, structured, and remarkably elegant. A true Grand Cru!

Origin & Processing

This organic extra virgin olive oil comes from a single, high-altitude vineyard near Orgnac-l'Aven in the Ardèche region (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France). The olives grow on tertiary red clay soils with an ideal east-west exposure and views of the Cévennes mountains. Because Leccio del Corno ripens very late, the harvest took place in mid-November 2025. And, of course, it was done by hand with meticulous selection. The olives are processed immediately after harvesting at the estate's own Amenduni mill: gentle crushing with a knife-crusher, brief malaxation to minimize oxidation, double centrifugation, and immediate filtration. The yield is extremely low – over 20 kg of olives for one liter of oil.

background

Cosmos is La Magnanerie's grand single-plot cuvée and ranks among the most prestigious organic olive oils in France. The Leccio del Corno variety, originally from central Italy, finds exceptionally precise expression in this barren, calcareous, and clayey terroir. Cosmos has twice been awarded the title of best organic olive oil in the world by Flos Olei in Rome (2022 & 2023). The 2025 vintage impressively confirms this claim: intense, vegetal, profound – Eric Martin has worked with uncompromising precision.

Food pairing

Ideal raw with fresh goat cheese, burrata, or ricotta. Superb as a finishing touch on steamed or poached white fish, boiled potatoes, vegetable dishes, or simply on bread with a little salt. An oil for mindful moments of enjoyment and for those who appreciate such meticulous work in the grove and the mill.

Note from the Master of Olive Oil

“Leccio del Corno is one of my absolute favorite varieties – and Cosmos is one of its most compelling interpretations. Intense, vegetal and precise, with great aromatic depth. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to taste this beautiful oil.”
– Silvan Brun, Master of Olive Oil

Import, warehousing & quality assurance

To ensure the enjoyment doesn't end with the product description, this oil was imported into Switzerland under temperature-controlled conditions (between 6 and 18 °C, depending on the truck). The oil is also stored at a constant ambient temperature of 15–18 °C, protected from light. This temperature-controlled logistics preserves the chemical, physiological, and sensory quality of the olive oil to the best of our ability. In the olive oil business—especially in the premium segment—such meticulous care is essential, yet evoo.expert is one of the very few retailers who consistently maintain an unbroken cold chain. You can smell and taste the difference.
