Mate Bianca Bellezza - 2024 - 250 ml

Mate is a small, established Istrian olive estate producing top-quality olives. It is located on the Adriatic coast, between Daila Bay and Punta Salvore. It was founded by Mate Vekić, the father of Aleksandra, who successfully manages the olive estate today.

At the tender age of 75, Mate decided to produce outstanding olive oil and embarked on an unparalleled project.

For years, the area where the Tuscan-influenced olive varieties Leccino, Pendolino, and Frantoio, as well as the typical Istrian varieties Bianchera and Buža, now thrive, had been abandoned and uncultivated due to difficult climatic conditions and dramatic historical events. With a great deal of courage and an equally large amount of passion, Mate decided to plant 25,000 olive trees of different varieties.

Mate's daughter Aleksandra, who has Swiss roots and speaks perfect Italian, French, German, and English (!!!) in addition to Serbo-Croatian, has built the small family business—exclusively using organic farming methods—into Croatia's most established premium olive oil producer. Aleksandra's oils, proudly bearing her father Mate's signature on the bottle label, are now among the best extra virgin olive oils in the world.
